Outdoor Concerts

Live music fills the air during Woodland Park Zoo’s summer ZooTunes (*zoo.org/zootunes) series. Alfresco music echoes beneath the Space Needle Friday evenings in August as part of Concerts at the Mural (*seattlecenter.com/concertsatthemural). Meanwhile, headliners like Jason Mraz, Vance Joy, and Barenaked Ladies grace the lawn of Marymoor Park (marymoorconcerts.com) June through September.

Music Festivals

Summer brings some of the biggest fests to town. Three of the city’s largest are Pioneer Square’s Upstream Music Fest + Summit (upstreammusicfest.com), a Paul Allen event which starred curated performances from more than 200 acts in early June; Capitol Hill Block Party (July 20–22; capitolhillblockparty.com), featuring a heavy-hitting alt-indie lineup; and Seattle Center’s Bumbershoot (Aug 31–Sep 2; bumbershoot.com), bringing headliners across all genres to town. Sets run throughout the day and well after dark.

Alfresco Theater

The 18th annual Seattle Outdoor Theater Festival (July 14–15; greenstage.org/sotf) features three stages in leafy Volunteer Park with 16 performances by 10 local theater companies. Bonus: the shows are completely free.

Dance on the Beach

Show off your best moves by moonlight during Belltown Dance Studio’s (belltowndancestudio.com) annual Salsa & Bachata on Alki Beach series. Intro lessons start an hour prior to each dance session, and no partners are necessary.
