From Broadway plays to modern dances, Seattle’s arts scene is simply divine.

The curtain never truly closes on the Seattle stage. Around every corner there’s a new performance ready to engage an audience.

While the big shows are great, Seattle is known to incubate award-winning homegrown theater, too. Local talent thrives at Seattle Repertory Theatre (*155 Mercer St;, 5th Avenue Theatre (*1308 Fifth Ave;, and ACT Theatre (*700 Union St; Standouts include How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying (5th Ave; Jan 28–Feb 21) and the premiere of Sherlock Holmes and the American Problem (Seattle Rep; Apr 22–May 22).

On the classic music front, during the 2015–16 season, Seattle Symphony (*200 University St; begins a two-year project in which it performs all of Beethoven’s symphonies and piano concertos. And while the classics are the symphony’s forte, it’s not opposed to loosening up to play a little Led Zeppelin (Feb 26) or teaming up with local musicians and filmmakers to create bursts of creativity with its Sonic Evolution series (May 13).

To take in Seattle’s thriving dance scene, visit Pacific Northwest Ballet (*301 Mercer St;, which delivers world-class performances on a near monthly basis. The highlight of the company’s season comes when it debuts a new version of The Nutcracker for the first time in 32 years (Nov 27–Dec 28). Those seeking experimental modern dance can head to Velocity
