Listening to local radio is a great way to hear area bands. Watching studio recordings live at KEXP (305 Harrison St; kexp.org) is really cool, too. Anybody who’s anybody has done it. Easy Street Records (4559 California Ave SW; easystreetonline.com) in West Seattle and Sonic Boom Records (2209 NW Market St; sonicboomrecords.com) in Ballard are go-tos for vinyl. And if you’re here for a festival, don’t just watch the headliners–get there early, and check out the local bands on the smaller stages.
