Writers Under the Influence: A Tribute to Ursula K. Le Guin

11/17/2018 | Richard Hugo House

Readings & Lectures Capitol Hill/Central District

Ursula K. Le Guin, who passed away January 22 of this year at the age of 88 was a towering figure through the body of her work, example, and indomitable spirit. She had a profound influence – and was a frequent presence a number of times – on the life of this bookstore. This evening, Hugo House in partnership with Clarion West Writers Workshop, features writers Eileen Gunn, David Naimon, and Nisi Shawl presenting stories, reflections, and more. This evening should also see a few recent releases with Ursula K. Le Guin’s hand – a fiftieth anniversary edition of The Books of Earthsea (Simon & Schuster), beautifully designed and illustrated (Charles Vess). There is also a new book of poetry, So Far So Good: Final Poems 2014 – 2018 (Copper Canyon Press).
