The Highline Historical Society has invited Betty MacDonald biographer Paula Becker to talk about MacDonald’s blockbuster book, The Egg and I, which reportedly sold one copy every 22 seconds in the 1940s. Although MacDonald, a local author, wrote autobiographically, her relationship with truth is slippery, and Becker ponders how Betty’s kind of nonfiction relates to the popular genre of memoir today.
