The Devil We Know is the story of one chemical – PFOA or C8 – which belongs to a huge class of nonstick chemicals called “PFAS” that chemical companies 3M and DuPont continued to make and profit from even as evidence shows they are not good for our health. Put in everything from food packaging, like microwave popcorn bags, to stain resistant home furnishings like carpeting, their widespread use means these industrial chemicals lurk nearly everywhere, including in our drinking water, homes, bodies, and environment.
