St. Lawrence String Quartet

Music University District

The superb St. Lawrence String Quartet showcases two iconic masters of quartet writing, Haydn and his student Beethoven, as well as John Adams’ first string quartet, inspired by both composers. Haydn single-handedly created the genre of the string quartet, and through the SLSQ , you will experience an informed, enthusiastic and entertaining breakdown of Haydn’s Quartet filled with historical and musical guidance. “Haydn Discovery” is followed by selections from Adams’ John’s Book of Alleged Dances, a collection inspired by Haydn’s wit and by Beethoven’s late period works. They’ll end the evening with Beethoven’s last completed work.
