Mark Morris Dance Group

2/21/2019 through 2/23/2019 | Meany Center for the Performing Arts

Dance University District

Choreographer Mark Morris has been hailed as the “the most successful and influential choreographer alive, and indisputably the most musical” (The New York Times). He returns to Meany Center with a world premiere set to the music of 20th century iconoclast Harry Partch. Partch built visionary one-of-a-kind instruments, currently in the collection of the UW School of Music, with tuning systems and original structures representative of both ancient and non-Western music. Morris’ choreography displays a deep understanding of the composer’s work, and will be performed to live music by the MMDG Music Ensemble and the UW School of Music.
