Malcolm Terence’s Beginners Luck: Dispatches from the Klamath Mountains (Oregon State University Press) is the story of some of the people involved with Black Bear Ranch, a commune he co-founded on the California/Oregon border. Some members dispersed; others stayed to fight wildfires, try logging or mining or raising marijuana and became part of the community.
