BIMA is proud to present Rodriguez’s first solo art museum exhibition in the Northwest, following his solo show at The University of Texas, El Paso. George Rodriguez is originally from El Paso, and currently lives in Seattle. His large-scale ceramic sculptures are a blend of traditional folk art and contemporary fine art and craft – hand-built and enhanced with various surface patterns, colors and glazes. Rodriguez engages directly with political, social and cultural issues, addressing Mexican-Americans and other communities of color in the United States and beyond. His work speaks to the experiences of immigrants, political refugees, and other often marginalized communities.
