There is much joy in the music of the High Baroque and the first half of the 2018-18 season closes with as much of that joy as possible. Baroque composers recognized and exploited the fact that any emotional state is intensified by juxtaposition with its opposite and so it is with the music on the program. Ingrid Matthews will delight with “Winter” from Vivaldi’s “Four Seasons”, one of the most popular works of all of Western Art Music. She will be joined by Seattle area natives, Rachell Ellen Wong, who recently won the 4th prize in the XXI International J.S. Bach Competition and returning lutenist, Kevin Payne. Laurel Wells will play both violin and viola, Jason Fisher will be on the viola, and Byron Schenkman on the harpsichord. Caroline Nicolas will be making her BS&F debut on cello and viola da gamba.
