Macy’s Fireworks – Seattle

Well, Thanksgiving has come and gone and before the turkey has even fully digested, it’s here- the Holiday season. What’s that? Your relatives have decided to stay an extra week this year? Say what?! Your kids are dying to see Santa and the line is around the block? Fear not! We have you covered for all there is to do and see in the city during the holidays.

With today being Black Friday, I’m sure you have all been up since the crack of dawn, fighting it out at BestBuy for that amazing flat screen. Perhaps you spent the morning getting into the spirit at the Macy’s Holiday Parade downtown, waiting to catch a glimpse of Santa. Or, you did what I did and slept off a turkey coma till noon… Nevertheless, downtown Seattle is aglow with lights this evening.

Starting at 5pm, the 24th Annual Tree Lighting Celebration at Westlake Center begins along with the lighting of the Macy’s Star. I would suggest you get there early, grab a hot chocolate and take a ride on the Holiday Carousel. It’s one of my favorite downtown traditions.

Tonight also marks the beginning of the Seattle Holiday GooseChase Contest! If you’re looking for a way to explore the city, snap some fun photos and win some prizes while you’re at it, you should check this out. It’s a smartphone photo scavenger hunt and a great way to keep everyone busy and having fun. Go to for more details and for the list of amazing prizes to be won!

After tonight, there are still so many things to do and see downtown. If you need suggestions, is a great resource for all things festive and sparkly this time of year.  There you can find a comprehensive events calendar, details on the Holiday Goosechase, visitor information and more. Start a new tradition this year and come downtown for the holidays.
