Seattle Sports Commission Internship – Fall 2019

The Seattle Sports Commission:

The SSC unites the region through sport.  By encouraging a vibrant sports culture, the SSC (a division of Visit Seattle) seeks to strengthen business, promote generational engagement in athletics & bolster pride in our community.

Hours: 24-30 hours a week

Timeline: Late August – November 2019

Compensation: $15.00 per hour plus an ORCA card for the duration.

Event Management:  Assist the Event Coordinator in planning & implementation of SSC events, including SSC Open, Women’s Leadership Breakfast, board meetings, networking & additional special events.

  • Build event resumes
  • Manage registration lists & event check-in processes
  • Create name badges for event attendees
  • On-site coordination
  • Support affiliated SSC events (i.e. AVP)
  • Assist with event bid proposals

Marketing & Communications:  Assist Sports Marketing Manager in developing & producing content for various platforms, corresponding with contact groups, & building marketing materials.

  • Online content – SSC website updates, blog & Sports Blast (monthly newsletter)
  • Marketing materials & event elements – creative services to develop concepts, assist in distributing & updating informational sales/marketing collateral
  • Social media— image management, copywriting, infographics, content research, content generation (attend/photograph events on behalf of the SSC)
  • Communications – compiling & organizing distribution lists from contact groups, drafting correspondence, acting as point-of-contact for certain groups

Business Development:  Assist Business Development Manager in lead generation reporting and tracking relational data via the CRM.

  • Customer Relationship Management (CRM) – SSC database (Simpleview) data entry, organization & maintenance of contact information, activity, tracking & reporting.
  • Assist with outreach to existing & prospective members


  • Organization – assist with maintaining an effective, organized filing system that is easily accessible
  • General Office – copy, fax, mail, ship & file materials as needed.
  • Assist with coordinating meetings (venues, RSVPs, catering, etc.) documenting & managing board/committee meetings, manage SSC emails, responding to all emails in a timely fashion & organizing appropriately.

  • Minimum of three years completed of four-year degree from an academic institution
  • Exceptional customer service skills
  • Highly organized & detail-oriented
  • Proven ability to work independently while effectively prioritizing & multi-tasking
  • Ability to work collaboratively, in small & large groups
  • Demonstrated creativity – come ready to share your ideas!
  • Self-motivated & ready to learn
  • Excellent written & verbal skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Working knowledge of social media platforms a plus
