Marketing Intern – Fall/Winter

The Marketing Intern’s primary responsibility will be to work closely with our Director, Content Strategy and Marketing Specialist on projects relating to social media, publications, and the website. Intern will also assist the Marketing department with quick tasks and support inter-departmental projects.

Hours:                      20 hours per week

Timeline:                  Fall/Winter: mid-September – mid-December

Compensation:        $15/hour plus ORCA card for duration

Scope of work:

Responsibilities may include content creation for social media channels and the Visit Seattle travel blog, monitoring and reporting on social media analytics, photo and asset management relating to social media and influencer programs, proof reading visitor guides, and auditing content on visitseattle.org. This position may require attendance at some post-working hour events, weekly marketing meetings and some administrative work as needed.

Learning objectives:

This position is open to a college-level Junior or Senior marketing student interested in gaining real world experience working in the leisure tourism industry.

 

DESIRED SKILLS:

  • Minimum of two to three years completed on a marketing-related four-year degree
  • Discretion, self-motivation, diplomacy and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team are essential qualities
  • Knowledge and respect of corporate branding and advertising principles
  • Understanding of and interest in social media marketing platforms
  • Excellent writing skills and vocabulary are a must
  • Organized and detail-oriented
  • Ability to handle multiple projects at once and meet tight deadlines
  • Proven ability to work independently while effectively prioritizing and multi-tasking
  • Knowledge of the hospitality and tourism fields is a plus
  • Fluent in English (speaking and writing)
