Concierge/Information Specialist Intern

Job description:

Visit Seattle is accepting applications for a Concierge/Information Specialist Intern to work at the Seattle Visitor Desk, located on the first floor of the Washington State Convention Center at 7th and Pike, downtown Seattle.

Assist guests to Seattle with travel, transportation and dining recommendations and reservations and extensive travel assistance. Answer phones, stock brochure collateral, offer personalized travel information for Seattle and the Pacific Northwest.

Schedule:

  • 4-10 hours a week for training in May
  • 20-40 hours a week for Internship June – September.  Must able to work weekends.

Timeline:  May-September

Compensation:  $15/hour plus ORCA card for duration

Scope of Work:

  • Itinerary planning
  • Offering/booking restaurant, transportation, travel and tour reservations
  • Making referrals to partner organizations
  • Fielding phone calls

Learning objectives:  To be developed between intern and supervisor to reflect individual goals and objectives.  To include:

  • Customer service
  • Communications

Desired Skills:

  •  Must speak fluently in English with a clear, articulate voice
  • Clear communications, both verbal and written
  • Bi-lingual in Japanese, Chinese, or German a plus
  • Excellent multi-tasking skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel
  • Customer service background helpful
  • Demonstrated desire to work with the public
  • Prompt, courteous, friendly
