GETTING AROUND

Walkable Pioneer Square
Walkable Pioneer Square

There are many options to get to and around Pioneer Square, and visitors need not being a car to enjoy the neighborhood. For those with driving to the neighborhood, parking garages and surface lots are scattered around the area, though the neighborhood itself is easily explored by foot or bike and the absence of a car shouldn't dissuade visitors from checking out the area. Visitors who arrive on two wheels will find Bikestation, at 3rd Ave. S. and Main St, a handy stop. Bikestation offers various services including bike storage, maps, and repairs.

Pioneer Square is also well served by Metro and Community Transit, as well as Sound Transit's ST Express bus service. In addition, Pioneer Square's King Street Station is the city's hub for rail traffic, with both Sounder Commuter Rail and Amtrak offering regular service. (Beginning in 2009, Link Light Rail will also begin providing direct access to the neighborhood from SeaTac Airport and the retail core, as well as serving points-in-between.) Finally, Coleman Dock connects the Pioneer Square neighborhood to the Washington State Ferry system, and allows for easy access to Bainbridge Island and the Olympic Mountains, Bremerton and the Kitsap Peninsula, and West Seattle.
