"HOTTO" IS THE NEW HOT IN JAPAN TOURISM MARKETING
The Japanese term Hotto — roughly translated in English as "Ah, relaxed" — figures prominently in a new destination marketing campaign launched earlier this month by Seattle's Convention and Visitors Bureau, the Port of Seattle and Washington State Tourism. The destination's relaxed and refreshing lifestyle is the theme of a brand new destination "concept guide" that is now available to travelers and professional travel planners in Japan. The guide builds on the success of the Living Cool, Loving Nature theme that the bureau, port and state have successfully employed to boost tourism from Japan during the past decade. The new guide, among other campaign facets, invites Japanese visitors to recharge and refresh amid Seattle and Washington state's healthy lifestyle, cuisine and outdoor activities.
