History & Heritage Museums

Take an afternoon to enjoy the Suquamish Museum and the Port Madison Indian Reservation to learn about the unique background of the great Chief Seattle and his tribe’s history. Or visit the Wing Luke Asian Museum in the International District to learn about the culture and history of Asian Pacific Americans in the Northwest. Located in the charming Ballard neighborhood, the Nordic Heritage Museum is the only museum in the United States to honor the legacy of immigrants from the five Nordic countries.

From the Museum of History & Industry historic photo collection. George H. Bartell started his first drugstore on Jackson Street in 1890, shortly after Seattle's great fire. By the end of 1921, he had a chain of eight drugstores in the city. Today, Bartell's is the largest family-owned pharmacy chain in the country. Photographer: Webster & Stevens, circa 1921.
