Seattle's Convention & Visitors Bureau is a non-profit economic development agency responsible for competitively marketing Seattle as a destination for meeting and convention groups and leisure travelers. The bureau is a member-based organization with more than 1,100 affiliated businesses throughout the region.

NATIONAL ACCOUNT DIRECTOR
Summary of duties and responsibilities: Promotes and sells Seattle and region as a convention and meeting destination for associations and corporations; achieves specific room night sales goals as assigned and reviewed annually. 70% focus on Convention Center bookings; 30% focus on hotel self contained business.
List of Essential Job Functions:
- Generates convention center and hotel bookings from an assigned market segment(s), which may be revised annually.
- Generates and manages sales leads; prepares space rate proposals and competitive, creative bids to win business. May be required to make personal presentations.
- Creates and maintains client base in the assigned market; assigned an annual room night goal, to be achieved from definite bookings within this market. Analyzes total spend of group in order to effectively yield manage prospective business.
- Actively prospects for new business in assigned market, using the value added/ROI approach so that Bureau leads do not duplicate member hotel and national/global sales efforts.
- Attends tradeshows, sales missions, client events, networking meetings and local meetings to solicit convention business; responsible for pre-planning, target marketing, pre- and post mailers and all booth arrangements for tradeshows.
- Coordinates and conducts site tours for meeting planners, showcasing facilities and attractions in the city.
- Assists meeting planners with referrals to services manager or other service providers, and national sales managers in determining sales opportunities that benefit the community.
- During convention/meeting, maintain contact with meeting planner; upon completion of the convention have immediate contact with individual(s) responsible for rebooking.
- Maintain research on competition regarding marketing and sales strategies.
Education, prior work experience and specialized skills and knowledge:
- Four-year degree preferred but not required.
- Five years minimum hotel sales experience.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills.
- Ability to initiate and write marketing and budget plans.
- Strong and consistent ability to prioritize activities within specific time guideline and to handle multiple responsibilities within a specific time frame.
- Outstanding oral and written communication skills.
- Willing and able to work evenings, weekends and holidays based on client and office demands.
- Proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Delphi or other relational sales management database.
- Ability to operate computer, fax, Outlook, PDA and general office equipment including laptop computers.
Physical environment/working conditions:
Work involves working alone on the computer, collaborating as part of a team or working closely with others by computer or over the phone. Estimate approximately 20% - 30% travel depending on market.
