Much more than just a hub of travel (via the
Seattle-Tacoma International Airport) and bedroom community to Seattle, there are countless offerings in the communities that make up Southside — and there’s hardly a more central and easy launching point for a variety of outdoor adventures.

Southside is just a quick drive or Link Light Rail ride to downtown and includes the towns of Kent, Burien, Sea Tac, Tukwila, Normandy Park and Des Moines. Among these communities, there are a number of dining, shopping and entertainment options.

Attractions in this area include the
Museum of Flight, casinos in Tukwila and the
Emerald Downs horse racing tracks.
Westfield Southcenter is the largest shopping center in the Puget Sound area with dozens of stores and restaurants and a movie theater. There are also numerous community-wide events held in this open-air shopping complex.
Other sights to see include the Burien Town Square, which features a nice downtown core of shops and restaurants. Also, the Normandy Park Towne Center in Normandy Park, which is considered one of Seattle’s hottest communities as it has undergone a beautiful transformation since 2002, offers an array of businesses to check out.
Bird-watchers and fresh-air lovers have plenty of options in Southside, too. More than 30 miles of trails are easily accessible via the Interurban or the Green-Duwamish River trails. Additionally, the 304-acre Green River Natural Resources Area features wetlands that are home to viewable waterfowl and wildlife populations.
