Seattle Participates in National Industry-Wide Travel Promotion
SEATTLE – This week, John and Robin Costic from Portland will toss salmon at the Pike Place Market, fly by float plane to the San Juan Islands, sip wine with the vintners at De Lille Cellars in Woodinville, enjoy dinner and a VIP rooftop experience at the Space Needle and taste coffee at the original Starbucks store and take home a year’s supply of coffee.
The Costic’s bid won the Seattle Trip of a Lifetime, one of 25 big-city visitor packages that are part of the Discover America Daily Getaways, a promotion of the U.S. Travel Association sponsored by American Express. The unique industry-wide promotion, which began May 3, is aimed at stimulating travel this summer, offering up to 50 percent off trips to popular destinations like Seattle.
Seattle’s Convention and Visitors Bureau gathered members of the regional tourism community to offer a truly quintessential Seattle experience for the Costics. Companies contributing the package include:
- Alaska Airlines – round trip air
- Carey of Seattle – town car service
- Inn at the Market – four nights accommodation
- Pike Place Fish – fish-catching experience plus a fish shipped home
- Starbucks – complimentary coffee for a year plus a personalized coffee tasting
- Museum of Flight – a tour and meeting with former astronaut Bonnie Dunbar
- Space Needle – VIP experience up on the roof plus dinner in the restaurant
- DeLille Cellars – meet winery owner, tasting and wine shipped home
- GlassyBaby – tour and make their own blown glass
- Kenmore Air – round trip air to San Juan Islands
- Crystal Seas Kayaking – a full day of kayaking
- Experience Music Project/Science Fiction Museum – tour
- Hard Rock CafĂ© Seattle – lunch
