JTB First To See Seattle Mariners In 3D

SEATTLE – Japan Travel Bureau (JTB) executive Takashi Uno was one of the first Seattle Mariner fans to view a Major League Baseball game in 3D this week.

Mr. Uno, who is General Manager, Sales Division 1 (Hawaii, Micronesia, Americas, Oceania) for JTB, attended a game between the Seattle Mariners and New York Yankees on July 10. The game was the first to be televised in 3D throughout the Pacific Northwest.

The Seattle Mariners and their broadcast partners, Fox Sports Northwest and DIRECTV, partnered to present 3D broadcasts of both the July 10 and 11 games between the Mariners and Yankees. The games were also broadcast on the Yankees' partner, YES Network, and DIRECTV's 3D channel.
Mr. Uno watched the game from a private suite with members of Seattle’s tourism community and was invited to the Seattle Mariners owners’ suite to experience the game’s 3D telecast. The Mariners also set up public viewing areas around Safeco Field for fans to experience the telecasts.

“On Mr. Uno’s first trip to Seattle, we’re delighted that he was able to see a Seattle Mariners game and to be one of the first M’s fans to experience a game in 3D,” said Tom Norwalk, President and CEO of Seattle’s Convention and Visitors Bureau.
Representatives of DIRECTV hope in the future to do a few broadcasts per week and expand to mediums such as concerts and other sporting events.
