Below you’ll find press releases and news stories detailing a sampling of the many events and activities where visiting convention delegates have generously shared time and talents with our community.
 
Danny Woo Community Garden Project.  SCVB introduced tourism industry volunteers to a sustainability service project by hosting a clean-up project in the International District to prepare for the installation of a new children’s garden. 

Visiting Vets Pitch in to Help Local Animals. 
 The AVMF (American Veterinary Medical Foundation) left more than empty hotel rooms behind them when they left Seattle after their Our Oath in Action voluntourism project. They left behind three shelters full of grateful dogs, cats, rabbits and horses!  

Visiting Plastic Surgeons Pitch in to Help Feed Seattle.  The PSEF (Plastic Surgeons Educational Foundation) is the research and philanthropic arm of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) which held its Annual Meeting in Seattle in 2009. On the last night of the meeting, the organization hosted a closing reception titled Party with a Purpose: Connect with the Community.  The party gave attendees the opportunity to support Seattle’s organization for hunger relief, Food Lifeline-Feeding Western Washington, Feeding Hope.

Software Users Collect Books for Kids.  The 10th annual book drive sponsored by the SAS Global Users Group was held this spring in Seattle during the group’s annual conference to benefit needy children in the Seattle area. Conference goers brought books to a central location during the conference. All books were then distributed to reading centers in shelters and community organizations in the area.
